چکیده
A heterometallic lanthanide complex has been prepared by sequential deprotection and complexation of an orthogonally protected ligand: luminescence and NMR spectroscopy have been used to probe the integrity of the complex.

The solution structure of supramolecular lanthanide triple helices revisited: application of crystal-field independent paramagnetic NMR techniques to mono- and di-metallic complexes†
Pyridine-containing tridentate binding units react with trivalent lanthanide ions, Ln, to give C3-symmetrical nine-coordinate triple helical complexes in which subtle intramolecular interactions control the final structures. While X-ray crystal structures allow some rationalisation in the solid state, the access to solution structures by paramagnetic NMR is limited by the unpredictable variatio...
متن کاملA high-throughput approach to lanthanide complexes and their rapid screening in the ring opening polymerisation of caprolactone.
Libraries of lanthanide complexes supported by nitrogen and oxygen containing ligands have been synthesised using a high-throughput approach. The complexes were employed in the ring-opening polymerisation of epsilon-caprolactone, in some cases giving polycaprolactone of controlled molecular weight and narrow polydispersity. The libraries, based on twenty-one ligands and eight lanthanide reagent...
متن کاملLanthanide loading of luminescent multi-tridentate polymers under thermodynamic control.
This work illustrates the use of basic statistical mechanics for rationalizing the loading of linear multitridentate polymers with trivalent lanthanides, Ln(III), and identifies the specific ionic sizes of europium and yttrium as promising candidates for the further design of organized heterometallic f–f′ materials. Using [Ln(hfac)3] (hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate) as lanthanide carriers, th...
متن کاملModeling the chemical shift of lanthanide 4 f electron binding energies
Lanthanides in compounds can adopt the tetravalent [Xe]4f n−1 (like Ce4+, Pr4+, Tb4+), the trivalent [Xe]4f n (all lanthanides), or the divalent [Xe]4f n+1 configuration (like Eu2+, Yb2+, Sm2+, Tm2+). The 4f -electron binding energy depends on the charge Q of the lanthanide ion and its chemical environment A. Experimental data on three environments (i.e., the bare lanthanide ions where A = vacu...
متن کاملInvestigations of the Effect of the Non-Manganese Metal in Heterometallic-Oxido Cluster Models of the Oxygen Evolving Complex of Photosystem II: Lanthanides as Substitutes for Calcium
We report the syntheses and electrochemical properties of nine new clusters ([LLnMn(IV)3O4(OAc)3(DMF)n](+) (Ln = La(3+), Ce(3+), Nd(3+), Eu(3+), Gd(3+), Tb(3+), Dy(3+), Yb(3+), and Lu(3+), n = 2 or 3)) supported by a ligand (L(3-)) based on a 1,3,5-triarylbenzene motif appended with alkoxide and pyridine donors. All complexes were obtained by metal substitution of Ca(2+) with lanthanides upon t...
